A simple “#2 might be relevant to you” is enough.

Fundraising

1. "Anonymous" (Vpvv4by) (Founder/CEO; Top 1% League of Legends player) is looking to raise $200k to $300k from strategic angels. They turn a phone's microphone into a muscle-loss monitor for people on GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, where up to 60% of the weight lost is lean muscle & almost nobody is measuring it today.

Co-founder/People to jam with

2. "Anonymous" (2jJv8y9) (Founder; Dune player) is looking for a commercial co-founder to take a state-of-the-art zero-shot LLM detector to market. The tech is proprietary & working, traction is zero by his own admission, & he wants someone who leads with marketing & sales rather than strategy. Warm intros into edtech companies or institutions are the unlock.

3. Dhairya (catan player) is looking for an ML research internship in mechanistic interpretability, machine unlearning, or AI for science. He wants research that forces deep analysis rather than pure engineering. Needs visa sponsorship.

4. "Anonymous" (qB9wT4j) was a founding product engineer at an AI scale-up between 10M & 50M ARR, where they owned the core inference stack. Looking for founding engineer or first-product-engineer seats at pre-Series-A in London, open to fully remote inside the EU.

5. "Anonymous" (zK2mF8r) spent 8 years as a senior quant at a top-tier investment bank & is now leaving for startups. Really really strong maths, Python, & financial modelling. Looking for founder-track, founding engineer, or growth roles at fintech or AI startups in Zurich, Munich, London, or fully remote.

Mentorship

6. Kenji is looking for a mentor & warm intros to push him further. He has the goals but too much optionality & too much noise, & he's done working for anyone but himself. If you've been through that particular fog, he wants to hear from you.

  • 1. Gregory & Kush (Co-Founders @ Wexler) on Wexler being acquired by Legora. Founded January 2023, a team of 18, revenue up eightfold year on year with over 400% net revenue retention, & now the founding team of Legora's London engineering hub. Absolutely S-tier outcome for a three-year-old London company. 🤝 Receipt

    2. Jay (Founding Team @ Arrakis) on coming out of stealth with $38M from Accel & Blossom Capital, with the Datadog CEO and an OpenAI exec in the round. Industrial AI's last mile, which is the unglamorous part everyone else skips. 🏭 Receipt

🎭 Behind the Scene: Startups Bet Money, Operators Bet Years

We've run several games since the last edition, & many great things are cooking for the community that I'm not quite ready to talk about. If you want TechGames in your city, or a new game on the roster, tell me where you are.

London TechPoker Tournament #7

We’ve started a new game theory applied to startup essays

We used to run the game theory inside this newsletter. Too heavy for some of you, too thin for others, & plenty of you were here for the intros & the games, not the equations. Enough of you said so that we pulled it out & rebuilt it properly. Startup Game Theory is its own thing now on Substack.

We’ve been working on the best ways to do vetted intros

Way more vetted people started coming to us for seats at high-growth startups than we were handling well. I used to just forward names around, & some of those intros wasted people's time. The person who paid was almost never the founder. A founder bets money on a hire & money comes back. An operator bets years, & years don't. So we centralised it: double vetting, double opt-in. Low volume, absurdly high quality.

We're building this with you & for you. Anything that would make it genuinely more useful, hit reply & tell me. I read everything.

💌 See you Next Week!
